“Revealing the Past”Revealing the PastBy: InoriChapter One: The Lost Childhood It had been occurring for two weeks now. Visions of a burning city, a fleeing princess, three spiritual stones, monsters. He didn’t know what they meant, but they were all too familiar to him. Past life, maybe? Duo thought to himself as he lay on his back, staring up at the stars in the heavens. Nah, can’t be. Then what? I can’t tell the other pilots about this, they’ll just think I’m crazy. Not that they don’t anyway.... He let out a long and heavy sigh, then sat up. Slowly, he got to his feet and headed back towards the safe house that the other pilots were occupying. He didn’t want to leave, something was keeping him there. What, though? As the thought crossed through his mind, a brilliant flash of blue light struck before him. Walking towards it, he stepped into it and was transferred into another realm, onto a platform occupied by seven colorful disks, or rather, Medallions, and he stood in the middle of it. “What do you want from me? Why did you transport me here?” he said without a single thought before. “I thought you’d never get here, Duo Maxwell,” A voice said. Suddenly there was another flash of light, but thid time it was golden. “My name is Sephroth. I am the Sage of Light. I brought you here because your father and mother need your help. Without it, they’ll die.” “My mother and father? But, they died long ago-” “No, that is only what you wanted to believe. You didn’t want to accept the fact that they sent you into this dimension, this time, to protect you from the evil throughout the kingdom of Hyrule. You aren’t human, Duo, you’re Hylian. And You must fulfill your destiny as the son of the Hero of Time. “Twenty-three years ago, a great battle raged between the seven Sages and the evil Ganderof. It seemed to be a one sided war, and Ganderof was winning. Until one day a hero emerged from a young Hylian boy who was raised to believe he was a Kokiri. This young boy, Link, learned of his destiny from the Great Deku Tree, the guardian of the forest. Somewhere deep inside of him he knew he wasn’t like the other Kokiri, and that he possessed a powerful skill inside of himself. “Link went and traveled throughout the land of Hyrule, seeking out the three spiritual stones of time: The Kokiri Emerald, the Goron Ruby, and the Zora’s Sapphire. After he acquired these stones by defeating enemies that were under the evil side’s rule, he traveled back to the castle where the princess, Zelda, rode past him on a white horse in a hurry. Before she got too far, she entrusted the Ocarina of Time to him, telling him to protect it with his life, for it contained a power to summon forth the powers of the spiritual stones.” Sephroth explained. Duo got a confused look. “And what does this have to do with me?” “Be patent. You need to hear this. Placing the spiritual stones in the Temple of Time, and playing the Ocarina that Zelda gave him, a door to this dimension opened, but before Link was allowed into the realm, he had to be able to pull the Master Sword out of the stone it stood in. He did it with ease, and was able to come to this realm. “It was seven years after that he awoke in this realm, and I was here to greet him. I told him of his destiny as the Hero of Time, and that he had to save the land of Hyrule. Unfortunately I was the only Sage that had emerged in that time, and he had to go and awaken the others. He of course did this with ease, and each Sage in return added their powers to his by giving him their Medallion. “Now it came time for Link to face Ganderof. He returned to the Temple of Time, and was greeted by Sheik. Sheik told Link many things about the Triforce, and who possessed each piece. Link was the one who possessed the Triforce of Courage, Ganderof held the one of power, and Sheik-” “Held the one of Wisdom.” Duo finished almost spontaneously. Sephroth gave a shocked look. “How did you know that? You were too young to remember anything about that realm, how did you know?” “Because Sheik isn’t a guy after all, he’s Zelda in disguise. My........ Oh god,” Duo bent down, dropping his head onto his knees and swaying like he was going to vomit. Sephroth shook his head in amazement. “Zelda is your real mother. And Link-” “Is my father.” “Yes. Now that you know the truth, will you accept your sealed destiny and fight alongside your parents?” “Do I have a choice?” Duo said sarcastically. Sephroth smiled and chuckled softly. “Not really.” “Go figure. Ok, then, it’s settled. When do we begin training?” Duo looked around, then returned his gaze back to Sephroth. “And where, exactly? I mean, you can’t really go anywhere in this place, you know?” “You’ll start now,” A feminine, yet childish voice answered. Another flash of light, this time green, and a child was standing on the green medallion. “My name is Saria. I am the Sage of the Forest, and I am a close friend of your father’s. I will teach you how to use telepathy and also some magic, because you already know how to dodge and lunge because of what you did on Earth.” “So.......let me get this straight,” he said, looking
somewhat confused and yet fairly amused.
“I know I look like a child, but I’m actually older
than your father. I’m Kokirian, and Kokiri’s stay children throughout their
lives. Anyways, come with me, we’ll start your training.”
