"A New Hero's Quest"

A New Hero's Quest

By: Firngrothion

Chapter One: Peace at Last?

Seven years. Seven years of peace and prosperity.  Things were going well for Link. He was married to the woman of his dreams, had a child, and was loved by the people everywhere in Hyrule. Not only were things all good for Link, Hyrule itself seemed to be happy. There were explorers who were willing to brave the dangerous seas, and they were rewarded handsomely. New lands were being discovered almost every week. Trade was booming, and no one had seen one of Ganondorf's minions for as long as they could remember. Although, the king had long since passed away, nearly four days after the marriage of the Hero of Time, Link, and Princess Zelda. All of Hyrule mourned his death, even the shy Kokiri ventured outside their forest to go to the funeral. Zelda was queen now, as she had been for six years, but she still wasn't used to it. Still, things were good. Technological advances had been made, such as something called electricity. This was available to almost every one, with the exception of the Kokiri and Zora of course. But the races were now coming out of their respective domains.

Meanwhile, in the Evil Realm.  " Where is that incompetent Stolfos," Ganondorf shrieked.

"Here master."

"Where is my staff and cloak? I think its time to pay the 'Hero' a visit." Ganondorf had been exiled in this realm for years, yet it seemed like an eternity. He had been working to break the Sages seal, and had just now discovered a way to do it. He had managed to take an important book before Link had appeared to defeat him. Soon that blasted Link will suffer dearly, Ganondorf thought. Just then, Ganon saw a movement. All of a sudden, a giant dragon appeared and attacked Ganondorf.

"Well, it's been a while hasn't it, Helgrath? I didn't know you were banished here as well." The dragon slowly changed to a human-like form. It had no pupils in the eyes, nor any hair. The hair was replaced by fire. He had an evil amulet on his forehead, maybe that's why he didn't lose any powers.

"Ahhh, Ganondorf. I remember you well. You always were such a good student, but then you had to go and over throw my rule." Helgrath and Ganondorf were both male Gerudos. This is very strange because only one male is to be born every thousand years or so.

"Helgrath," Ganondorf said with a sneer," Will you get out of my way? I'm about to break out of here. Maybe if I feel like it I will rescue you."

"YOU RESCUE ME?!"

"Yes, I'm the only one who knows how to get out of here. Except for those damn Sages and Link."

"Oh, I wouldn't be so sure about that if I were you, Ganondork."

"Oh, I see. And how old are you again Helgrath? Five, Six?"

"Funny, very funny. While I was banished here I picked up a new trick. A little thing called, Telepathy. Now that I read your mind, and now know how to escape, I have no use for you. Goodbye Ganondorf." And with that Helgrath snapped his fingers, and Ganondorf exploded.

Chapter Two: Destruction at Gerudo Valley

It was midnight. Link lay beside his love trying to wake her up. She had been tossing and turning all night, and was now mumbling. Link was usually not awoken by this, since Zelda was a prophet on certain terms.

"AHHHH!" Zelda had awoken, with a start of course.

"Zelda, are you ok?"

"Huh? Oh, Link; I had the most horrible nightmare. I dreamt that all of Gerudo Valley was destroyed, and an evil fortress was in its place. Then we were escaping from the castle, and it was engulfed in flames. Oh Link!"

"Its ok Zel, it was only a dream."  Link was a little worried though. Earlier that day, reports of a strange man hanging around Gerudo Valley came in. The Gerudo weren't worried though. After all, they were a race of warriors. Even though they were women, they still should not be messed with, Link thought. The rest of the night was pretty uneventful, due to the fact that Murphy came running in saying that he had a bad dream. Must've gotten that from his mom, Link thought to himself.

"Daddy, I had a bad dream."

"Well, hop on up here then and tell me 'bout it."

"There was a man with a sword, only it wasn't like the Master Sword. It glowed red, but you could hardly tell because the sword was drenched in blood." Link looked worried at his wife. Murphy never had these types of dreams before. After a couple of minutes, they all got settled in and went to sleep.

"Blast it. I can't get into the fortress at night." Helgrath was hiding in a cave that was near Gerudo Valley. "If I wasn't still sapped from that damn spell that got me out of the Evil Realm, I could just fly over there and get done what had to be done." Of course he was thinking about the mass murder he had planned for the Gerudo. He resented them, especially Nabooru. She had helped Link put Ganondorf in the Evil Realm, and before that, she banished him from the valley. Oh, she will suffer, but first, I'm going to torture her, Helgrath thought. The sky presently started turning gray. "At last! The morn is come." Helgrath snuck in, almost perfectly. Then the guards spotted him. He would've fought them, but he was still weak. "Don't you know who I am?"

"Nope," said one of the guards

"I'm Helgrath, a male Gerudo."

"Well, now that I think about it, I think I saw your picture in a book somewhere."

"Well, are you going to put him in jail or not, Selina?" asked one of the guards.
