Lita turned around and saw Brone and his horse in distress, she quickly turned Sheik around and charged the monsters. The large white horse trampled the Redeads into the ground. "Brone, hurry, they may get back up!"

Brone grunted as he yanked on the reins to get the horse to slow down. In a few seconds the horse calmed and began again at a trot. "Good girl," he said as he patted it's head. Brone turned his head to look at Lita and he couldn't see her. In fact, he couldn't see anything. The world seemed to have gone dark, the stars extinguished, his sight gone. "Lita! Where are you!," he yelled through the darkness.

"I'm here Brone!" she called back, her voice was coming a ways away from him to his left. "This dark cloud, it's something vile. Lita snapped her fingers and a small light appeared in a pendant on her chest. Though the light wasn't strong enough to break through the dark fog. "Can you see my light!" she called out.

"I... I can't see anything... no light!" he hollered.

Lita cringed, Brone's voice seemed farther off now. They two horses were slowly wandering away instead of finding eachother. "Stop your horse Brone! I need to find you first!" She heard him call to her his approval of the plan. The sound of his voice seemed to be coming from her left, so Lita turned her horse in that direction and began trotting. "Keep calling out to me Brone! I need to hear where you are!"

"Alright!" Suddenly a disgusting noise of ripping flesh rang in Brone's ears and he felt blood spatter his face. In less that a second his horse took off at a fast gallop. Something... some monster had attacked the horse. Brone pulled back on the reins as hard as he could but the beast would not slow. "Lita! Help! I can't stop it!" he yelled at the top of his lungs. But he couldn't hear anything back from her. The only sounds to be heard was that of the horse's hooves and the meek crying of Kane.

Brone's horse was in pain, the monster had made a huge gash in the poor beast's side. In it's panic it had begun running and wouldn't stop, even if it could see nothing. After a few minutes of galloping the animal crashed into a ditch and Brone was taken down with it, still grasping the baby boy to his chest. The sickening crack of the horse's neck as it hit the ground announced it's death.

Brone yelped in pain as the large animal's weight was thrown onto his leg. He could feel the warm gush of blood coming from his crushed leg, but it was rapidly becoming numb. Kane had begun bawling in his arms. It had all happened so fast, what had happened to Lita? What could he possibly do now, he had to save his son. These were the thoughts racing through Brone's head as he began to bleed to death. He quickly gazed up at the sky and realized that the stars could be seen. The dark fog had lifted.

Brone laid Kane on the ground to his side and tried to jerk his leg free. All that was to be had was a sharp pain that raced up his side. He panted and tried again to dislodge himself out from under the dead horse. Sweat was dripping from his face as he began to feel increasingly cold. Brone stopped pulling himself in grim realization. He couldn't do this, he was stuck, and he was dying. All he could think about was Kane. The poor baby that will die beside him if he cannot get free. So after resting for a minute or so Brone began once again to free himself.

Soon enough Brone became to weak to pull, he had gotten no where for all of his effort. He laid back on the ground and stared up at the stars. He picked up Kane and cradled the wimpering child in his arms. "I'm so sorry... my boy... I only wish you could have had better..." Tears streamed down the sides of Brone's face as his vision slowly faded into darkness.
